Why are people so offended by this?
by desib77 ini've been doing a lot of thinking and have been leaning toward a new conclusion about god.
i'm thinking that i believe in his existance but think that he does not play an active role in our lives.
he does not cause evil but also does not bless...... what do you think?.

I find deism to be kind of the default position. I can only look so long for a reason for the suffering in this life. Eventually, I can't help thinking that, for some reason, the creator is really not involved at present.
Why this is the case is anyone's guess. Might be a really good reason for it, but I haven't heard one yet. I can't see why anyone really needs to be made to suffer. That's a rather poor excuse.

My life ... and how JWD came to be - Part 5
by Simon inmy life ... and how jwd came to be - part 1. my life ... and how jwd came to be - part 2. my life ... and how jwd came to be - part 3. my life ... and how jwd came to be - part 4. i swear, i thought it was only a couple of years at most since i wrote part 4 of "my life and how jwd came to be".
i re-read it after someone posted to it and brought it back on active topics and it was kind of prophetic in a way ... well, i had the 5 years part right if nothing else:.
it would be nice to visit the site (or whatever one is around then) in 5 years time to let people know how we're doing and find only a few of the same people still around.

Thanks, Simon for your story and the work you do to keep up this website. Moving across the pond was quite a big change to make. I take it that you like snow, eh?

One of many disturbing stories in the OT. I heard on the news today that one of the presidential candidates is promising that husbands can, by law, have their wives killed if they refuse them sex. If he wins, of course.
Things have not changed much in that part of the world.
Oops, forgot to say in the election in Afghanistan.

Clever ploy to get sisters to monitor husband's internet use in today's WT
by Mickey mouse inin today's study watchtower there was, yet again, more demonization of the internet.
although the paragraph purported to be about guarding against pornography, it struck me that they are attempting to kill two birds with one stone here, without mentioning one of the birds by name.
here's a scan, check out paragraph 15:.

Confessed my Doubts to my Wife
by cantleave inwell - i today i had the opportunity to tell my wife i no longer believe in the things that i have spent my life immersed in and that i didn't want my life run by 9 geriatrics in brooklyn.. her reaction was understandable her first questions was "what have you been reading"?.
i didn't mention this site but told her i was shocked by something i heard regarding the wts's ngo status with the un, dissapointed by the new light on the generation and disturbed by the flip flopping on blood fractions.
i explained how these things were at best hypocritical and at worst have meant some people have lost their lives unnecessarily because of the societies previous position.

Man, that is one weak husband. He needs to be babysitted by his wife and kids at all times? Does he not have any personal integrity or resolve?
In a marriage, trust and honesty is huge. The watchtower is trying to get between husbands and their wives again.

Soma Food Of The Gods, And Amanitas Muscaria
by frankiespeakin indo you think a person can use hallucinogens to get enlightened?
did humankind use them in the past with good results, for the benefit of their tribe, or community?
did some preform healings under the influence of them, wasn't this ritualistic use a predate of any organized type of religion.. in fact the way i see it, for government to forbid its use is,, not only a gross infringement of one's civil liberties, but also shows its capitalistic, and feed the factories with productive tax paying workers mentality, which were no doubt the main reason for the government sponsored smear campaign done under the guise of public service announcements for the public's own good along with long prison sentences to reinforce the message.

Hallucinogenics can help some persons to break with the feeling of separateness that we all feel. They can help one to feel the connection we have with the divine spark present in all living things.
It would depend a lot on the reasons for the use of these natural substances and the setting chosen.
I would not recommend them for recreational use, but they have and can play a part in a spiritual quest for enlightenment.

Why would the WTS have left out the statement on where blood fractions come from in the Keep Yourself Book?
by insearchoftruth inthe information at the bottom of this post is from the keep yourself in god's love book, the appendix, and is a bit of the discussion of fractions......what i find interesting is this book uses a lot of the information from the november 2006 our kingdom ministry article on blood fractions, but omits the statement:.
"of course many fractions are derived from blood that has been donated for medical purposes.
this seems to be more than just an oversite.

They do not use whole blood transfusions anymore. They always use fractions as they get more specific uses from each donated unit of blood this way.
I believe that nothing is left out accidentally by the writing/legal staff when it comes to sensitive issues like blood. I think they put the real info about blood fractions out once so they can say that they informed their members. No need to repeat.
Blood fractions can only come from blood. Seems obvious, but not to some dubs who are trying to make sense of the new rules from top.
